At Deva Matha College, Kuravilangad, we believe that the cornerstone of effective mentoring is active listening. In an increasingly fast-paced and digital world, the simple act of being heard is invaluable. True communication begins with listening; without it, students can feel isolated or unheard. By prioritizing this skill, our mentors build the trust necessary to provide meaningful encouragement, share life experiences, and offer the guidance required to navigate academic and personal challenges. Beyond emotional support, our mentors serve as a primary resource—offering direct advice or referring mentees to specialized professional support when needed.
The Three-Tier Mentoring System
To ensure every student receives consistent and high-quality guidance, the college employs a structured Three-Tier Mentoring System:
- Tier 1: Faculty Mentors (The Foundation) Each student is assigned a dedicated faculty mentor. These mentors provide personalized attention, performing diverse functions tailored to the holistic development and well-being of their mentees.
- Tier 2: Heads of Departments (The Bridge) The HoDs oversee the mentoring process within their respective departments, monitoring progress and ensuring that the relationship between faculty and students remains productive and supportive.
- Tier 3: IQAC and Coordination (The Oversight) The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) serves as the strategic lead, streamlining mentoring activities across the institution. Based on mentor feedback, the Mentoring Coordinator—in collaboration with the IQAC—arranges for external expert intervention for students requiring specialized assistance.
The college remains committed to the professional growth of our staff, providing ongoing training and resources to ensure our mentors are equipped to guide the next generation effect
