The FYUGP is a revised undergraduate curriculum introduced under NEP 2020, offering a flexible and multidisciplinary approach. It allows students to complete a bachelor's degree in four years, with an option to earn an Honours or Honours with Research degree depending on their academic performance and course selection.
While the FYUGP is being encouraged under the NEP 2020 guidelines, its implementation depends on individual universities and states. Many institutions, including central and state universities, are gradually adopting the structure.
An Honours degree is awarded after completing four years of undergraduate study with a focus on major subjects. An Honours with Research degree includes a dedicated research project in the final year, which is ideal for students interested in pursuing postgraduate or doctoral studies.
Completing the full four years offers several advantages, including eligibility for a Bachelor’s Honours or Honours with Research degree, better preparation for higher education (like postgraduate studies), enhanced employability, and development of critical thinking, research, and interdisciplinary skills.
An autonomous college has the freedom to design its own curriculum, conduct examinations, and manage academic operations independently, while still being affiliated with a parent university for the award of degrees.
Yes, even though the college is autonomous, the final degree will be awarded by the parent university. The college, however, has the autonomy to conduct its own examinations and evaluations.
Autonomy allows the college to introduce updated and industry-relevant curriculum, flexible course structures, and faster academic processes, resulting in enhanced learning and better job readiness.
Autonomy is granted to colleges with proven academic excellence. It generally leads to improved quality of education, better faculty engagement, and a more dynamic academic environment.
Cultivating discipline, leadership, and social responsibility through community service and transformative training experiences.
Nurturing creativity, igniting passions, strengthening skills and fostering confident leadership.
