Department of Hindi

                  The History of Hindi Department begins with the history of Deva Matha College which was started in 1964 with four bathes of Pre- Degree classes. Considering the importance of Hindi, the Official Language (Article 343 of the Constitution of India) , Hindi Language and Literature was introduced in this college as second language in 1964. Prof. K.R Ramakrishna Pillai M.A was the first teacher of the Department. He was the Head of the Department from 07.07.1964 to 30.06.1995 until his retirement. Prof K.R.R Pillai was the member of the Board of Studies of M.G University for three years from 1991 to 1994. He has edited a collection of poems called ‘Thirdhara’ which was prescribed for the second year degree students of 1985. He also rendered his valuable guidance service to the staff association of our college from1991 to 1994 as its president.
                Prof. C.P Kurian M.A was appointed in the Department in 01-07-1965. The college was upgraded in 1968 and degree classes were begun. Prof. C.A Augusthy M.A appointed on 09-06-1969 and Smt. Mary Jacob M.A was appointed in the Department on 27.08.1981. Prof.C.P Kurian retired form service on 31.03.1986 and Dr. Rocily N Joseph M.A, B.Ed was appointed on 02.06.1986. Prof. C.A Augusthy was appointed as the Head of the Department on 01.07.1995 following the retirement of Prof.K.R.Ramakrishna Pillai. After the retirement of Dr. Rosily N Joseph in 2017, Dr.Anju.B was appointed as Assistant professor on 17.06.2021.
