Programme Outcomes – B.A. English
At the completion of the B.A. English programme, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of English literature from the early modern period to contemporary times, including an understanding of major authors, texts, movements, and genres.
- Apply critical theories and analytical frameworks such as new criticism, structuralism, poststructuralism, postcolonialism, feminism, and ecocriticism to interpret literary and cultural texts.
- Produce clear, well-structured, and expressive written communication in a variety of genres including essays, reports, and creative writing.
- Engage confidently in oral communication, debate, seminar presentations, and public speaking.
- Appreciate the cultural, historical, and social contexts that shape literary production and reception.
- Demonstrate research skills through the use of library resources, digital databases, and academic writing conventions.
- Exhibit ethical sensibility, empathy, and a commitment to social justice, drawing on the humanistic values embedded in literary study.
Programme Outcomes – M.A. English
At the completion of the M.A. English programme, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate advanced and specialised knowledge of canonical and non-canonical English and World literatures.
- Apply major theoretical frameworks in literary and cultural criticism with scholarly rigour.
- Conduct independent research, formulate research questions, and produce academic writing of publishable quality.
- Engage critically with interdisciplinary fields including cultural studies, gender studies, and postcolonial theory.
- Prepare effectively for competitive examinations, doctoral research, and careers in education, publishing, and media.
