Established in 1964 with a Pre-degree batch, the Department of Botany has grown steadily over the decades. The department commenced the Undergraduate (U.G.) programme in 1982 and expanded further by introducing the self-financing Postgraduate (P.G.) programme in 2004.
The department is committed to fostering academic excellence and promoting a strong research culture among students. In addition to the regular curriculum, the department offers an Add-on Course titled “Certificate Course in Plant Tissue Culture”, enhancing practical knowledge and skill development in modern plant biotechnology techniques.
