Report on Internship Implementation and Portal Registration
In accordance with the directives from the Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) and the guidelines issued by Mahatma Gandhi University for the MGU-UGP (Four-Year Undergraduate Programme) framework, the college has formalized its internship procedures to ensure structured professional exposure for all students. This report pertains to the summer – internships for II Year MGU-UGP students, which carry a weightage of 2 credits for duration of 120 hours.
1. Institutional Registration and Compliance
The college has successfully completed its registration as a Higher Education Institution (HEI) on the Keltron Internship Portal, following the mandate from KSHEC. This registration ensures that the institution and its academic departments are officially recognized within the state’s digital skill ecosystem, fulfilling the necessary administrative requirements for the current academic year.
2. Industry Partnership and Documentation
To facilitate high-quality internships tailored to specific academic disciplines, the college has implemented a systematic documentation process involving external partners:
- Internship Agreements: Standardized agreements are collected from relevant Internship Providing Agencies (IPOs). These documents explicitly outline the scope of work, duration, and learning objectives to ensure the internship remains academically rigorous and professionally relevant.
- Departmental Coordination: The internship process is initiated at the grassroots level by the Head of the Department (HoD) and the designated Departmental Internship Coordinator. They are responsible for identifying suitable Internship Providing Agencies and ensuring that the industry exposure is directly aligned with the student’s specific field of study.
3. Regulatory Compliance and Credit Integration
All internship activities are strictly monitored to meet the statutory requirements of Mahatma Gandhi University, ensuring:
- Pre-commencement Documentation: Each student has a signed agreement on record before the commencement of their internship to maintain a formal record of the engagement.
- Defined Roles: The responsibilities of the Internship Providing Agency, the College, and the Student are clearly demarcated to maintain academic integrity.
- Credit Verification: The successful completion of these internships, backed by the documented agreements, enables the entry of earned credits into the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) under the MGU-UGP framework.
4. Conclusion
By maintaining an institutional presence on the Keltron portal and streamlining the agreement process with external Internship Providing Agencies, the college has established a transparent and professional framework for internships. This system fulfills the regulatory mandates of KSHEC and MG University while significantly enhancing the industry-readiness of the students.
