On October 20, 2022, the Department organized an online invited talk titled "Statistics: Opportunities Abroad." The session was led by Mr. Amal Jayakumar, a research scholar from the Department of Data Science at Teesside University, U.K. Despite the geographical distance, the virtual platform allowed for an engaging interaction where Mr. Jayakumar detailed the global career pathways for statistics graduates and shared his firsthand experiences of pursuing advanced studies in the United Kingdom.

Significant Figures: Voices from the Statistics Peer Forum - During the 2023–24 academic year, second-year students of the Complementary Statistics course participated in a "Peer Talk" series designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and professional reality. Moving beyond standard curriculum, students explored and presented on the structural and functional aspects of the field, including the Statistical System in India and the evolving career opportunities within the data sciences. This compilation of manuscripts serves as a formal record of these sessions, documenting the students' ability to synthesize complex institutional frameworks and market trends into coherent, peer-led presentations.

The Statistics Department of Deva Matha College Kuravilangad hosted an invited talk on January 21, 2025, featuring Mr. Vibeesh E. M. (ISS), Deputy Director General at the NSO, MoSPI. The session provided students with expert insights into the role of statistics in policy making, highlighting career pathways within the Indian Statistical Service and opportunities for higher learning in official statistics.

Empowering Research with Data: Add-on Course in Data Analytics using R - To equip students with essential research tools, the Department of Statistics at Deva Matha College, Kuravilangad, conducted a 30-hour hybrid Add-on Course, "Data Analytics using R" (DMCK/STATS/AD 21/2022), from November 2022 to January 2023. Coordinated by Dr. Lishamol Tomy, the program provided 41 students from the Mathematics and Econometrics departments with expert-led training through a blend of virtual sessions via Google Meet/Classroom and hands-on practicals at the college computer lab.
